Biographie
Ma formation initiale est en cadastre et géodésie (B.Ing. de l'Université Distrital, UD, Colombie). Après l'obtention de ma maîtrise en géographie (UPTC, Colombie) en 2003, j'ai travaillé pour l’Institut de Recherche Marine et Côtière «José Benito Vives de Andreis» (INVEMAR) et aussi pour le Centre international d'agriculture tropicale (CIAT). Trois ans plus tard, en 2006, j'ai quitté la Colombie pour m’installer au Canada et commencer un doctorat en géographie avec spécialisation en modélisation de systèmes complexes à l’université Simon Fraser (SFU), sous la direction du Dr Suzana Dragicevic (SAMLab). Dans cette thèse j'ai abordé le sujet de la modélisation spatiale et temporelle des épidémies des insectes et leurs comportements complexes. À la suite de l'obtention de mon doctorat en 2011, j'ai entrepris mes études de post doctorat à l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique (2011) et aussi à l’Université de Victoria (2011-2013) où j'ai travaillé sur des questions liées à la relation spatiale et temporelle entre les changements d’indicateurs indirects de la biodiversité et du changement climatique.

La complexité est inhérente aux processus écologiques et anthropogéniques. Mes intérêts de recherche consistent à en apprendre plus sur les relations et sur les interactions spatiales et temporelles façonnant les changements de notre monde. L'analyse spatiale, la modélisation et les systèmes d'information géographique (SIG) permettent d'étudier les problèmes complexes, tels que les changements climatiques, l'écologie du paysage et la foresterie, en représentant explicitement les phénomènes dans leur contexte géographique. Mes recherches focalisent sur la nature multidisciplinaire de la Science de l'Information Géographique (GISience) afin d'étudier les relations entre les processus écologiques et les patrons de distribution spatiale résultants.
